1970 Porsche 911 S 2.2 Litre

1970 Porsche 911 S 2.2 Litre - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Supplied new to Germany, extensively restored coupé! Matching numbers! In August 1969, Porsche increased the 911's engine bore to 84mm to give a displacement of 2.2 litres. The coupé was available as a T version with 125 bhp, an E version with 155 bhp and an S version with 180 bhp. But it was the last of those letters that ultimately spelled the difference. If you wanted to be taken seriously as a sports driver, you would naturally go for the 'S'. And this still applies to this day. At the end of 1971, Porsche launched the last version in the 911's evolution – the F-model with the 2.4 litre engine. However, the actual last 'original' 911 is really the 2.2, because it still has the 901 gearbox with the sport layout – which means, first gear bottom left. At the same time, the 2.2's engine – accompanied by much hissing and growling – is proving much more 'vicious' and hungry for speed, and simply more sporty than that of the 2.4. The present Porsche 911 S was supplied new to its owner by the Porsche dealership Hahn in Fellbach on 24 March 1970. It is one of just 1430 coupés of the 2.2 litre top model that were ever produced. In 2013 and 2014, it was systematically restored by a Porsche specialist with no expense or effort spared. As part of this restoration, it was fitted with an original Porsche cooling system, and this year's summer is showing why! The result is absolutely stunning, because it has given rise to a 911 without equal by far with regard to quality. This 911's condition simply delights everywhere you look and down to the smallest detail, while in matters of performance, the 911 has already proven its capabilities beyond all possible doubt. The Porsche's birth certificate furthermore confirms that both the engine and gearbox are still the original ones. With this vehicle, the new owner will be purchasing a car that represents the pinnacle of Porsche's achievements of the time, because if it's got to be a 911, then it has to be a 911 S, and if so, it's got to be a 2.2. And we have one! So, what are you waiting for?!
