An original 911 with a full service history and matching numbers! When the International Motor Show opened its doors in Frankfort on 12 September 1963, it was the prototype of the 901 that stole that year's show for Porsche. A coupé of unequalled elegance created by Alexander Porsche! Slightly bigger than the 356 but still a lot slimmer and significantly more spacious. On the Americans' insistence, it was able to hold as much as two golf bags in the front, while the rear was occupied by a six-cylinder 130 bhp engine that effortlessly did 200 km/h. In other words, a car set to yet further boost the image of a brand that was already held in high regard. The 901 subsequently went into series production in September 1964. Following the Paris Motor Show, which took place in October, Porsche had to change the model's name because of ownership rights to the same held by Peugeot. After having built as may as 82 vehicles designated 901, the model number was subsequently changed to the now legendary 911. As is often the case with new models, the 911's production went hand in hand with a number of severe difficulties. On the one hand, they had to do with the quality of the bodywork and, on the other, with valve damage and carburettor issues. As of March 1966, all of these issue were said to have been satisfactorily resolved. Today, it is exactly those early builds beset by problems that are the most sought after by Porsche lovers. Since Porsche was constantly and forever changing things, its very early vehicles are virtually considered as being unique in character. Apart from gaining a mythic status, only very few of these vehicles, which were already produced in limited numbers, have survived over the past 50 years. While many were destroyed by rust or in accidents, their second worst enemies have been conversions and upgrades. Fully preserved original 911's are therefore incredibly rare. According to Kardex, the present 911 was supplied new on 8 November 1965 in Irish Green 6606 with beige faux leather. Its options included a Webasto heater and 2 sets of safety belts. The recipient was the dealership P.C. Northbrook in the USA. According to the vehicle's documents, it is assumed that the second owner, from Breckenbridge, Colorado, purchased the car on 16 June 1986. The next change in keepers took place on 10 February 2001, when the Porsche moved to Carlinville. This keeper subsequently had the 911 repainted in its original colour about 14 years ago. Today, the racer still has its original engine and gearbox, as well as the original Webasto heater. It naturally also comes with its original service history book, and operating and accessories instruction manual. Even the rims still bear their stamp from 08/65. Due to the vehicles history and high level of originality, it is being assumed that the mileage of 58,701 miles shown on the clock, which roughly corresponds to 94,000 km, is also accurate and original. After having been imported to Germany in 2016, this 911 underwent an extensive service and the entire interior was overhauled and some parts renewed. This is one point where it was not restored to the original, as it has now been fitted with new real leather seat covers. The car is being sold ready for road-use registration and with a full German inspection report. This makes this car an early 911 with fully matching numbers, which has been confirmed by Porsche. Thanks to the length of time it was kept by its first owner and subsequent ownership by a collector, this 911 is in an exceptional original condition. In a nutshell: an original 911 in its purest form!
