1936 MG PB - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Racing technology in miniature!
> Matching Numbers!

The P-Type, also known as the Midget, was a small sports car produced by MG from 1934 to 1936. The special appeal of the P-type lay in its modern sports engine concept. A mainshaft drives the overhead camshaft of the four-cylinder engine. Two carburettors ensure the feeding of the air-fuel mixture through the cross-flow cylinder head. The result of this design is a motor that joyfully turns at speeds of up to 6000 rpm. In 1935, the PB replaced the PA and differed from its predecessor with its increased engine size and power. From PA with 847 cc and 36 HP to the PB with 939 cc and 43 HP. Together with the now somewhat more tightly switching and crisper gearbox as well as the very direct steering, this lean 750 kg fireball can be thrown more easily around tight corners. Only 526 of these playful midgets were produced.

The known story of this MG began in 1976, when Mr. Terry Holden, an established member of the MG Triple M Register, restored the car. In 1978 he sold it to George Jenkins, an American living in London, who sold it back to its home country in 1982 before travelling onwards. The MG was then taken on by a certain Dr. Cummins from Hartlepool. In May 1988 ,the PB embarked on an Austrian career when an individual licence was granted. In 1993 the FIVA pass then followed. The new long-standing home for the PB was now Amstetten. This was followed by another two owners. The unusual, attractive blue finish even brought the PB onto the title page of the 1983 edition of the book "The Classic MG" by Richard Aspden. The current owner is completely restructuring his collection and is therefore putting up this midget for auction. The might midget is now looking for a new fervour to conjure up a lasting smile on its new owner’s face through its unique sonic mixture of engine, gearbox and exhaust!
