1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I

1960 Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I - Autoveicoli d'epoca

German roll-out, with its most recent owner for 25 years!

In 1959 Donald Healey announced the sale of his 100 models. The body remained largely unchanged, but under the bonnet the fundamentally overhauled 3-litre BMC C-Series engine was what did the doings. It originally came from the big limousines and made easy play of the many race-offs it had with smaller roadsters. In a test in 1960, the 3000 Mk I reached a speed of 185 kph, managing the sprint from 0 to 100 kph in just 12 seconds. The up to 200 HP was nothing unusual as were the numerous victories in various rallies and long-distance races.

This Austin-Healey 3000 Mk I is as the BT7 version a 2 + 2 seater. The special thing about it, is that it was probably a product which was originally exported to Germany. This is suggested on the one hand by the kph speedometer, but much more by the extremely extensive documentation, extending back to the late 1970s, when the then owner restored the Healey, as confirmed by the extensive correspondence provided. For the most recent owner, this Austin-Healey was the beginning of a passion that started some 25 years ago, which ultimately ended up today in a more than handsome collection. He bought his first vintage car in a restored state and since then has driven it the way a Healey should be driven. This is indeed shown by this roadster. While other cars can be newly restored if wished, this vehicle proudly shows that it is a car for driving. Whether it be with the wonderfully patinated interior, the already somewhat faded leather seats, or with the odd scratch here and there on the body. Mechanically, however, it is top-notch and it has just passed its vehicle inspection. With a heavy heart, it is now time to separate and we hope to find it a new owner who will move him as much as is indeed fit for this Healey!
