Soviet opulence making a big show!

As a result of a co-operation with the Ford Motor Company, motor vehicle production started in the Soviet Union in the early 1930s under the name GAZ (Gorkovsky Avtomobilny Zavod). The production of the GAZ-12 began in 1950, and up to 1960 21,527 copies were built mainly for the middle and upper ranks of the Soviet state architecture. The design, both stylistically and technically, was inspired by the American automobile industry of the late 1940s. Its lavish outfitting is also oriented towards it.

The early history of this GAZ-12 is not documented, although speculation that it may have been the official vehicle for the Russian army general Viktor Kulikov is not unfounded. The owner, who has been in possession of the GAZ for 15 years, had maintenance carried out on the obsolete technology once and regularly drove the car on trips. Today, the GAZ-12 is certainly in a respectable condition, ready to drive with a German registration, vintage registration and has successfully passed its vehicle inspection. Two instruction manuals in German and Russian as well as a spare parts catalogue supplement are also included. Recently the GAZ has even become a film star. In 2016 and 2017 it was able to prove its talent in two productions. Once in the film "Werk ohne Autor (Book without an author)" from director Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck, who was awarded an Oscar for the film "The Lives of Others". The film’s debut is on November 2nd! At the start of 2018 the GAZ will also feature in its second role in the cinema in the film "Das schweigenede Klassenzimmer (The silent classroom)", a film adaptation of a true story from 1956. This GAZ-12 offers one of those rare opportunities to obtain a very special and interesting car. It will certainly make a big impact wherever it goes!
