1958 Jaguar XK 150 Roadster

1958 Jaguar XK 150 Roadster - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Restored XK with E-Type genes!

Jaguar presented the successor to the XK 140 in May 1957, again as an elegant coupé, a sophisticated convertible and a sporty roadster. The bodywork was smoothened once again, while the one-piece windscreen lent an altogether more modern look. Power was increased to 200 hp, and the model featured the first series-fitted disc brakes - on all wheels! It was truly a sports car to be reckoned with!

A German company director purchased the Jaguar from its first owner in Ohio in December 1979, with 43,277 miles on the clock. The XK was dismantled and elaborately restored between 1980 and 1983. Among other things, the frame and bodywork were galvanised, as evidenced by numerous photographs. Found to be in “top condition”, the engine and gearbox remained original. The owner purchased a C-Type Jaguar in November 1984, and sold the XK with a mileage of 43,300. In autumn 1985, the new owner had the engine overhauled with 44,850 miles on the clock and also fitted a longer rear axle ratio in addition to numerous other improvements. The consignor purchased the roadster with a reading of 61,500 miles in 1999, becoming only the fourth owner in 40 years! He converted, i.e. upgraded the predatory cat in 2004, mounting an overhauled 3.8-litre straight-port engine. The head number R 3724-9 reveals it to be a genuine E-Type part with 265 hp from an earlier model. Broader 205/70 tyres on 6“ spoked wheels transmit the power to the asphalt, while modern four-piston brakes ensure a safe hold and a leather steering wheel the necessary purchase. The heavy car demands a strong touch, but rewards experienced drivers with breath-taking road handling. The XK has featured at a variety of classic car events, always reliably thanks to the technical improvements. It’s a beautifully maintained super car whose performance potential is far superior to what one would expect from a 60-year-old sports model. And despite its endless reserves of power, it can cruise just as smoothly. It is, after all, a cat.
