The 18th Lagonda ever built, with original 16,927 miles on the clock!

The money ran out in Newport Pagnell in 1974. Aston Martin was insolvent and only escaped the fate of many other niche manufacturers when it was taken over by a consortium. A five-door car was selected to save what appeared to be beyond rescue. The first attempt involved extending the new V8 to add two doors, but its sales didn’t even reach double digits. Aston Martin presented a new, independent Lagonda in 1976. Not only was it independent, it also came with a highly extravagant design, a wedge shape featuring endless corners and edges. Its interior appeared more similar to a spaceship, with its LED display and touchpad control - which for the time was pure science fiction. Only the robust 5.3-litre V8 engine was familiar. The development costs were astronomical, as was the price, which is probably the reason why only 645 were produced.

This Aston Martin is the 18th of its kind! It was registered for the first time in England on 26 October 1979 and since then has only travelled around 17,000 miles. This is confirmed by the original service booklet, as well as by a number of annual MOT inspection reports and numerous service invoices. They also demonstrate that the luxury saloon has always been given the necessary attention. The condition of the Aston Martin, inside and out, reflects its low mileage and the lavish care it has received. Servicing is certainly advisable and necessary, as it has been part of the consignor’s collection since 2002, and barely any miles have been added. Undoubtedly, though, this unique Lagonda deserves this additional loving gesture!
