1947 Cadillac Series 61 Club Coupé

1947 Cadillac Series 61 Club Coupé - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Original 15,287 miles since delivery!

Sensationally preserved!

Cadillac resumed automobile production in May 1946, continuing to manufacture the pre-war models largely unchanged until 1948. At the time, the Series 61 Club Coupé was the least expensive, entry-level model into the Cadillac world, although it remained far beyond the means of almost all mere mortals.

This Cadillac has indeed clocked up just 15,287 miles since its delivery and is now presented in a magnificent, unrestored condition! After the sedanette had a spend years as an exhibit in an US museum, its last-but-one owner purchased the Series 61 coupé in January 1997 with just 3,145 miles on the clock. The previous owner bought the Cadillac in November 2002, imported it to Austria and had it registered in April 2003 with 5,900 miles. He equipped the Club coupé for longer journeys by converting it to V12, adding power steering and power, disc-operated brakes at the front, as well as an air conditioning system. The parts installed in the following years can be replaced, as the originals are still available. The spoke wheels and sunblinds were retrofitted as original accessories. This car still carries its first coat of paint, is unwelded, has its original engine and gearbox and the entire first set of interior features. The original radio was switched to VHF, so it even works today. The consignor purchased the coupé in 2011, sealed the engine, and otherwise changed just its overall mileage by adding another 4,000 miles. And its condition reflects this distance, not its age! Beautifully preserved, this Cadillac is therefore an entirely irretrievable piece of automobile history that is impossible to value due to its absolute uniqueness. It comes with the original invoice of 1947, along with its first registration document, operating instructions, lubrication plan and prospectus. The new owner will doubtless be torn between the dichotomous poles of authenticity and the sheer joy of driving the car. Truly a luxurious choice!
