Lotto No. 578 V

1955 Alfa Romeo T10

1955 Alfa Romeo T10 - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Extremely rare sports van!

The tipo dieci was one of Alfa Romeo’s first new designs after the war. It christened the small van Romeo and presented it to the general public as a delivery van and minibus at the 1954 Turin Motor Show. Nicknamed the “Autotutto” - car for everything - it was far superior to all its original vehicle competitors, both in terms of its functions and its engineering. It was already equipped with a curved, single-part windscreen and a full-height tailgate. The Romeo came with an extremely attractive engine as well, featuring the light metal double cam that was later used in the Giulietta. Customers could also pick a supercharged two cylinder diesel engine as an alternative. Other features included individual suspension and front-wheel drive.

This T10 was delivered to Italy in 1955 and is therefore among the earliest models. The 1965 libretto lists just one owner, and the inspection certificates extend into the late 1970s. Initially, though, this marked the end of the bus’s active service life, until it was discovered by an Austrian Alfa enthusiast who fell in love and whisked it away. The coat of paint needed renewing, but the owner decided to leave the interior in its original state. Now the little bus steals the show from even its most sporty and expensive Alfa compatriots! It is probably easier to find the proverbial needle in a haystack than a Romeo for sale!

VIN: T10 01443, mileage: 67,046 km (read), displacement: 1,290 cc/R4, power: 50 hp, colour: red/green (leather), gearbox: 4-speed, papers: Austrian individual approval and Italian libretto
