The 911 was given a comprehensive facelift in the model year 1974, most likely prompted by the new safety regulations in the United States. The engine programme in the United States was also restructured at the same time. To meet the strict exhaust gas laws, the S and the Carrera were both delivered with an identical 175 hp engine. In terms of its look, the Carrera drew heavily on the European model, as evidenced by the broader body and a variety of technical features.

This 911 Carrera Targa was registered in the United States in 1974 and carries the early engine number 0048. Decorative chrome plating from the early years around the headlights and windows lends this 911 an even more classic appearance; combined with the upbeat colour, it is a typical child of the wild 1970s. The Porsche was exported to Germany in 2015/2016. One of the previous owners had upgraded the Targa by fitting Fuchs wheels along with a rear spoiler. The interior was also given a zippier look with a sports steering wheel and bucket seats. The Carrera has received a fresh coat of paint in recent years. It successfully completed its German roadworthiness test (§21) in May 2018 and was also officially registered as a classic car (§23).
