1934 Fiat 508 Balilla convertible, Kelsch body

1934 Fiat 508 Balilla convertible, Kelsch body - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Enchanting pre-war convertible with special bodywork!

The 508 was a compact car that Fiat developed in 1932 to succeed the 509. Initially a three-speed, it was given four gears in 1934 and achieved a top speed of around 80 km/h. It was built with a whole variety of different bodies, from a sporty spider and a 4-seater saloon, to an estate car for heavier transports. Around 113,000 of them were poduced, among others in Poland, France, Czechoslovakia and in Germany. Many of the French automakers were grouped around Paris at the time, among them the prestigious bodywork company Kelsch, which was also licensed to build the 508.

The consignor purchased the vehicle 12 years ago from a trusted acquaintance, who discovered it many years beforehand languishing in a barn in the Upper Palatinate region. 508 had spent quite some time there, waiting to be found but otherwise mothballed - the archetypal fate of a barn discovery. But that’s what made it so challenging for its rescuer. He spent years and countless hours lovingly and meticulously rebuilding the 508, transforming it into an exceptionally pretty and reliable companion. The 508 convertible is a pleasing pre-war classic car that is astonishingly easy to drive and whose special body adds an extra portion of exclusiveness!
