1975 Renault Alpine A110 Berlinette 1300

1975 Renault Alpine A110 Berlinette 1300 - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Delivered to Germany!

With the Austrian consignor since 1984!

Alpine presented the A110 as the Berlinette Tour de France, referencing the legendary cycling race straight through France, in 1961. The name in itself was designed to alert the competition, as the A110 proved to be exceedingly quick. Due to the collaboration with Renault, the company was able to draw on an extensive selection of engines and continue advancing the Alpine. Indeed, now it is quite difficult to navigate the labyrinth of various A110 models. The race car was initially marketed exclusively by the Alpine representatives in Paris, but the vehicles were sold via the Renault dealerships from 1965 as well in order to meet the rising demand. The father of Jean Rédélé, founder of the make, was himself a Renault dealer, and so this successful collaboration was only more or less coincidental. Until the end of the 1960s, the factory Alpine left the competition trailing in its wake at national championships. Then the French company set its sights higher, entering the A110 1800 in Group 4 trim for the European and World Rally Championships and confidently winning its first world title in 1973.

This Alpine A110 is a Berlinette 1300 VC built in 1975. It appears that it was delivered to Munich, or at least the consignor picked it up from there and drove it to Austria, in 1984. Originally it was built in the extremely rare colour green, although the dealer himself seems to have repainted it in red. After all, the rarest colours did not often meet the taste of potential customers back then as well. Certainly none of the previous owners can remember ever having seen the A110 in green. Our consignor looked after his Alpine with loving care and began to use it frequently for classic car events after his retirement, not only in Austria. He gave it a fresh coat of paint three years ago, but the diminutive French speedster remains otherwise charmingly unrestored. The conversions that are so often encountered in race car imitations were always out of the question anyway, thankfully sparing it the fate of so many of its fellows. As a result, we now have a piece of French automotive history, deeply rooted in racing sport, with a history and charisma rarely encountered today!
