1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28

1971 Chevrolet Camaro Z-28 - Autoveicoli d'epoca

Delivered to Vienna, only two owners!

Original Z-28!

Chevrolet’s Camaro entered its second generation at the beginning of the 1970s. And although the competition followed suit, the company was not under any compulsion to act quickly. After all, a stroke of genius like the Mustang would be virtually impossible to repeat. The Camaro was bigger in size and carried an entirely new design that seemed almost euphoric. Nevertheless, the company installed proven equipment beneath the bonnet, trusting in displacement and power. The chassis was significantly improved, while adding more comfort to the interior. The PR department called it “a driver‘s car”. And they weren’t wrong.

This Camaro is special for a whole variety of reasons. It was imported via the firm Kandl in Vienna, is an original Z-28 racer and has only had two owners. This makes it so rare, rarer, even the rarest of finds, probably unique. With the oil crisis still casting its shadow, 2 ½ years passed before a buyer took pity on the Z-28, whose initials are synonymous with the endless power of 270 hp from the 5.7-litre Corvette engine. It remained registered to its first owner in Meidling until 1982, before changing hands in the early 1990s. The new owner was determined to restore the Camaro to its former glory, renewing the coat of paint, overhauling the entire powertrain and even restoring the rare, original rims. In contrast, the interior remained untouched. Today, the Z-28 best warrants the description “extraordinary”!
