Delivered to Italy, in Austria for 37 years!
Matching numbers, original Borrani rims!
Jaguar added the 2+2 to the roadster and the coupé in the ongoing Series 1 in 1966. Both remained in the programme until 1970, but only the 2+2 was included in Series 3. The cars had a higher and longer roof line and something akin to a passenger seat at the back with space for two people, theoretically at least. There is no documented evidence that anyone ever attempted it. Nevertheless, a positive side-effect was a more spacious feel of the entire cockpit and the fact that persons suffering from claustrophobia, normally-sized passengers and others with the odd aches and pains could get in an out without the need for contortions.
This E-Type in the elegant colour combination of dark blue paint and brown leather is a late model from the first series. It was delivered to Italy in 1968 and registered in Milan until 1981. It was then exported to Austria and registered by its first owner in Styria in October 1981. The E-Type arrived from Milan fitted with original 15x7 Borrani Record rims, which would now cost a moderately sizeable fortune. Anyone who has already attempted the restoration of a sports car of more sophisticated vintage could tell us a thing or two about the ardours involved, few of them happy. The E-Type remained with its Styrian owner until 2002, before it was purchased by the consignor for his collection. He improved the seating position again and took pleasure in the Jaguar as a sporty alternative in a collection of British luxury cars with extravagant bonnet figurines. A rare European model, this E-Type is already superior to any import and is certain to the please the eye with its exciting look!
