“Copper notes, state 6: the signaler”, 2005, drypoint etching on wove paper, signed ‘WKentridge’, no. 10 from the edition of 15 numbered impressions, plate size 16.8 x 20.9 cm, sheet size 28.5 x 33.2 cm, printed by Artist Proof Studio/Johannesburg with the blindstamp as well as one further blindstamp, sheet 6 of the 12 sheet complete ‘Copper notes’ series, framed, (RAC)
The 12 motifs of the 'Copper notes' were created by reworking a single etching plate. Thus, fragments and traces of the previous ‘states’ are preserved, making the genesis of the image visible.
