A rare and early settee / daybed, designed by Johannes Spalt c. 1958,
for Franz Wittmann, Austria, black coated section steel frame, upholstered and covered with black leather (renewed), height approx. 72 cm, length approx. 195 cm, depth approx. 74 cm/110 cm (as a chaise longue), (MHA). This settee can be transformed into a daybed. This sofa is the forerunner of Spalt’s “Constanze” from 1961, from which it differs in several manufacturing details and the folding mechanism, yet not in its general form. (MHA).
