A folding fan, France c. 1700/20
ivory frame, painted in the style of so-called ‘vernis Martin’ fans, tempera covered with lacquer, the front side with figural chinoiseries, the back with blue and white Chinese porcelain, head of the ivory guards covered with tortoiseshell, brass rivet with mother-of-pearl washer, doubly mounted paper sheet, gouache, gold coloured, the front side with mythological scene in a landscape, the back with two medallions featuring Chinese children, in between blue and white vases from the Kangxi Period, floral decoration, length 15.7 cm, mount slightly torn, frame paint with some flaking, case of a later date, (Hr)
