Two fireside armchairs, variant of a design by Adolf Loos
c. 1930 (in collaboration with Heinrich Kulka), manufactured by Friedrich Otto Schmidt, solid wooden frame on four legs, unattached seat cushion with light-coloured textile covering decorated with floral motifs, back rest made of core leather, dimensions of each chair: height c. 67 cm, width c. 55 cm, depth c. 50 cm, height of seat c. 32 cm. Adolf Loos used variants of this model for the apartment of Josef Vogl in Pilsen (Plzen), Czechia, for the Villa Müller in Prague (1928), and for the Khuner Country House in Payerbach, Lower Austria (1930). Various models of this chair are listed in the Friedrich Otto Schmidt archives under SREN 52.
