New York 1942, re-edition by Wittmann, Austria, in cooperation with the Friedrich and Lilian Kiesler Private Foundation, manufactured in c. 2002/04, wood structure with natural ash sides and black linoleum cover, height c. 73 cm, depth c. 85 cm, width 39.5 cm. (DRAX)

Friedrich Kiesler designed the “Correalistic stool” and “Correalistic instrument” in 1942 for an avant-garde exhibition held at Peggy Guggenheim’s gallery Art of This Century in New York. Both objects were intended not only for the relaxed viewing of paintings, but also as surrealistic art objects in themselves.

Provenance:
designaustria, acquired in about 2002/04 and used in various exhibitions of designforum Vienna, including the exhibition “Floating in Limbo” (2008), and “The Architecture of the Shrine of the Book” (2015) at the Israel Museum in Jerusalem.
