A floor lamp, mod. “Koko Lamp”, designed by Barlas Baylar - Design

in 2019, for Hudson Furniture, sculptural solid bronze construction in the form of a tree with gorillas leaning against it and holding on to it, cylindrical lamp shade, wired for three lights. Height c. 120 cm, diameter of lamp shade c. 65 cm, without guarantee for electrical fitting. (MHA)

From the limited edition of 15 + 1 e.a. (épreuves d’artiste).

Barlas Baylar designed the Koko Lamp, a tribute to primatologist Dian Fossey, who died in 2015. The Koko Lamp is a synthesis of designer Barlas Baylar’s love for sculpture, lighting design and his philanthropic sensibilities. Hand-crafted and hand-finished in an artisan process, the Koko Lamp renders a sculptural pulchritude with its stylized high blacken bronze base, polished solid bronze gorillas and lamp shade.

Barlas Baylar founded the Hudson Furniture Gallery in 2004, a showroom for concept design, in New York. Each object is handmade by an experienced team of craftsmen. Baylar’s designs are inspired by the art, design and architecture of the Art Deco era, blending them with modern forms. Each design requires many hours of work before it is ready to leave the studio.
