We are grateful to George Keyes for confirming the attribution to Cornelis Vroom on the basis of a photograph (written communication 18th November 2019). Keyes suggests the present composition pre-dates Vroom’s A Landscape with a River by a Wood in the National Gallery, London, which is dated 1626, giving this panel an execution date in the early 1620s.
