The present painting has been requested as a loan for the forthcoming exhibition on ‘Frauenkörper’ by the Kurpfälzisches Museum in Heidelberg in 2021.
Provenance:
sale, Wannenes, Genoa, 8 June 2009, lot 48 (as ‘Manierista nordico’)
We are grateful to Thomas Fusenig for suggesting the attribution of the present painting to Gillis Coignet (written communication). He definitely sees the hand of a Flemish painter trained and active in Florence.
