I sometimes reflect whether my mode of life and work in St. Martin might not easily be misconstrued as a model of the so-called complete and comprehensive life. It is quite possible to have fulfilment and concentration in an area of which one commands a view, but they may equally well be transformed into isolation. By returning to the country, I exclude a great deal from my field of vision, but what I do see is all the clearer, and magnified.
