Provenance:
According to a label on the reverse: Sotheby's, 30.10.1980 (lot 172);
private collection, Austria.
The present drawing may derive from an artist in the immediate succession of Allaert van Everdingen. The sheet may have been executed around 1720 according to the monogram. The later hand which added monogram and date to the sheet may also have been responsible for the framing lines which was executed with the same ink.
