A Unique High-Back Chair Mod. “Modern Houses”, designed and manufactured by Johann Rumpf
in 2021, four-legged structure made of polychrome lacquered wood. A monotype/seat by the artist Johann Rumpf was laminated onto an armchair whose formal language is reminiscent of Charles Rennie Mackintosh’s designs. Various wooden parts were subsequently applied, painted with lightfast furniture lacquer and thus formed into an entire landscape of houses. Dimensions: height c. 114 cm, width c. 49 cm, depth c. 49 cm. (MHA)

Johann Rumpf was born in Vienna on 7 April 1950. 1970 – 1974: worked for the enamel jewellery company Michaela Frey in Vienna; 1973 - 1974: children’ art supervisor at the “Wiener Ferienspiel” and organiser of painting courses in Vienna; 1976: licence for artistic screen printing; 1976: member of the Professional Association of Austrian Fine Artists; foundation of the artisan company Johann Rumpf with a focus on glass painting; 1977 - 1992: various exhibitions in Austria and abroad (Vienna, Salzburg, Munich, Frankfurt, New York, etc.); 1992 - 1993: construction of the Kunsthaus Rumpf; 1994 - 2020: various exhibitions and art auctions. Johann Rumpf lives and works in Vienna.
