The work “Entfants jouant à balle”, signed in black by Pierre-Auguste Renoir in the lower right corner of the plate, is part of an edition of 200 copies printed by Auguste Clot and published by Ambroise Vollard. This work, printed in 10 colours, is one of only four colour prints that Renoir created during his lifetime. Among other titles, it is also known as “La Récolte des Pommes de Terre” (The Potato Harvest). The color lithograph shows four girls playing carefree in a field on a beautiful summer day. Copies of this work are exhibited in public Collections around the world, including the Cabinet des Estampes in Paris, the Kupferstich-Kabinett in Dresden, the Metropolitan Museum of Art in New York, the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, the New York Public Library and the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C.
