Literature:
G. C. Argan (ed.), Capogrossi, Editalia, Rome 1967, p. 148, no. 98 with ill. (dated 1952)
"...How did Capogrossi arrive at his cabalistic locks, those unchanging, perpetually sealed locks, open only to those who know how to use them, and thus are able to open the doors to the secret of the universe? Like any secret that can become universal it is entirely personal, and nothing can ever be universal if it does not have its own unique code. [...]
He is the most varied, so furiously equal to himself, the most varied painter is in the world. The variation is all reasoned and reasonable, and therefore minimal, and the variety, the infinite differentiation from work to work, from one moment to the next in each work, could be the sudden intrusion of red or of the tightest chain."
Giuseppe Ungaretti, 1969
“I always tried to create abstract painting that might engender in the observer the feeling that there is a dimension- in the picture- that isn't just the surface of the canvas but also [a dimension] of the mind, since an abstract picture can encompass more than two dimensions, as the measure of space is not physical but rather individual and psychological.."
