"Das Orwell Bein - Hose für das 21. Jahrhundert", 1984, denim trousers with circular perforations, on the attached label signed Joseph Beuys and titled in French 'La Jambe d'Orwell - Pantalon pour le 21e siecle', from the edition of c. 35 executed impressions, due to the different denim trousers used, each piece has a unique character, size c. 106 x 48 cm, published by Editions Liliane et Michel Durand-Dessert/Paris, Schellmann 485, mounted in object frame, framed, with inscription, (RAC)
The edition goes back to the action 'Good Morning, Mr. Orwell', which took place at the Centre Georges Pompidou on New Year's Eve 1983. Besides Nam June Paik, Joseph Beuys, Charlotte Moorman and other artists were also involved in the action, which was broadcast live on satellite TV. Beuys and other participants wore denim trousers with circular hole cutouts.
