2013 Vespa 946 Ricordo Italiano - Solo Vespa. Quasi.

In 2011 Piaggio presented a design study in reminiscence to the first Vespa prototype from 1946, the MP6. New was the aircooled three-valve four-stroke engine with either 125 or 150 cc. In 2012 the new production model called 946 was presented to the public using this 125 cc engine. Its radical design was supposed to give an outlook into the future while it was a reference to the classic models at the same time.

Since then the Vespa 946 was offered as a limited special model, available in a few colors only. For the first year 2013 there were only black and white 946s built, exactly 3,600 units all together. It wore the name Ricordo Italiano. The price tag read 9,000 Euros, which was a lot, given the 946 didn‘t even have a luggage compartment. Its design, however, was highly praised by the media and by clients. In 2016 production came to an end.

There is not much to say about this Vespa 946, except that it is basically new. The odometer reads two full kilometers and it does not even look like it.
