Luigi Bechi

Luigi Bechi is best known for his genre scenes of which this painting is an excellent example. He trained at the Academy of Fine Arts in Florence under Giuseppe Bezzuoli (1784-1855) and Enrico Pollastrini (1817-1876).
This lovely genre scene of a young girl playing with doves fits well into the style of genre painting executed by Bechi after 1870. He drew almost exclusively on children’s everyday life as the subject of these paintings. The present composition is an idyll of simple domestic happiness.
