Pierre Jean Hellemans was a pupil at the Academy of Fine Arts in Brussels from 1807 to 1809, with Jean-Baptiste Rubens and Jean-Baptiste De Roy. His landscapes are invaluable records of the topography of the many villages and estates he painted.
