Eduard Leonhardi studied at the Dresden Academy under Ludwig Richter from 1844. He travelled to Munich, Salzburg and Upper Bavaria. Between 1855 and 1859 he worked in Düsseldorf before returning to Dresden. In 1864 Leonhardi was made an honorary member of the Academy. Leonhardi’s studio in Loschwitz is now the Leonhardi Museum
