The Viennese artist Franz Xaver Petter studied at the Vienna Academy under Johann Baptist Drechlser and Sebastian Wegmayr. In 1832 he became a professor for Flower Drawing at the drawing school of the manufacture and from 1835 to 1850 he was the head of the drawing school. Petter exhibited regularly at the Academy exhibitions in Vienna and members of the imperial court, the nobility and the bourgeoisie were among his clients. (cf.
