Before being destroyed during the commotion of the Second World War, the original painting by Eduard Steinbrück was held in the Kaiser-Friedrich-Museum, today’s Kulturhistorisches Museum in Magdeburg. Winged Cupid, shown with quiver and arrow, whispers to Psyche in a woodland landscape. The subject of the mythological love between the god Cupid and the human Psyche is a popular one in art history.
