111 years young!

Alexandre Darracq was a French entrepreneur, and one of the pioneers of automotive engineering. Around 1900, with production of front-wheel drive vehicles, he was definitely riding the wheels of success. As early as 1904 he had captured 10% of the French market. He expanded his co-operations with Opel in Germany, paved the way for Alfa in Italy, and in England he founded his own company which was later to be launched as Talbot. Alexandre Darracq was also well aware of the public impact of motor car racing in which he invested heavily. In 1905 the brand had held many speed records, such as the 176 kph reached by a 25.5 litre Darracq 200 HP V8.

Among the 5 Darracq models on the market from 8 to 40 HP in 1906, this 10/12 HP with its 2.3-litre two-cylinder engine was a very popular model due to its compact design. The owner, who was commercially committed to the Talbot brand, had already acquired the vehicle in England in 1978. After completely restoring the vehicle over two years, the Darracq was then ready for type-licensing. From that time onwards the owner then competed in various vintage car rallies over the decades, with numerous trophies bearing witness to his success over this time. The Darracq was also able to successfully complete longer journeys. For almost forty years, the owner remained faithful to it, but alas his age did not keep up to its needs. Now he feels it is time to reduce the size of his vintage automobile collection. With a recently passed vehicle inspection the Darracq is now ready to take its new owner to the kindergarten of the automobile, which is all the more interesting today, given that technological development is depriving us more and more of the original experience of driving a motor vehicle!
