Literature: The painting is illustrated in: Robert Keil, Friedrich Heinrich Füger /1715–1815): Nur wenigen ist es vergönnt das Licht der Wahrheit zu sehen, Vienna 2009, WV 508. A further design for the altar painting is preserved in the Albertina (Inv. 14655), a somewhat sketchy study in the Vienna Museum (Inv. 63862), (comp. Keil 2009, WV 509, 510).
