(Nuremberg 1471-1528) The Virgin crowned by an angel, engraving, monogrammed and dated AD 1520 in the plate, 13.7 x 19.7 cm, Bartsch 37, Meder 41/I a (of II b), a splendid, clear and warm-toned print, trimmed next to the stylus line which reaches into the halo of Mary at the angel’s left ball of the hand and at the platemarks, the paper margins occasionally beyond the platemarks, lightly fixed to the support at upper margin and at the interior side of the mount, in a very good condition, (Sch)
Provenance: A collector’s mark of Dr. med. Ernst Ruge, (Frankfurt/Oder 1878-1953, Lugt 2158 a) on the reverse; an anonymous collector’s stamp P in a circle (not in Lugt).
