Provenance: Galerie Paffrath, Düsseldorf; Private West German Collection Rudolf Schuster was a very successful East German landscape painter who studied with Ludwig Richter at the Dresden Academy. The picture here demonstrates the artist’s brilliant technical painting abilities. He succeeded in convincingly depicting the timber-framed village houses, partially sunlit, in combination with the carefully observed groups of figures.
