The first composition is based on a painting by Kupezky dating from around 1700 (on loan to the National Gallery in Prague, see E. Safarik, Johann Kupezky, Gesamtwerk, Brno 2014, p. 14, no. 1, ill. p. 88). The second composition is based on a painting from around 1730 now in the Herzog Anton Ulrich-Museum, Brunswick (see E. Safarik, op. cit., p. 56, no. 150, ill. p. 179).
