Built from 1969 in the 240 Z to 280 Z models, the extremely successful Z-Series was succeeded by the 280 ZX in autumn 1978. The X in the designation added a contemporary look and more luxury. The ZX preserved all the good qualities of its predecessors, but with significantly greater comfort. Known internally as the S130, around 430,000 ZXs were built, making it the most manufactured model in the Z-Series and the last by the Datsun make to be fitted with the legendary inline six. Customers had the option of passing the 140 hp to the rear axle using a 5-speed stick shift or 3-speed automatic transmission.

This 280 ZX catches the eye with a whole series of attractive qualities! For instance, it has remained with its first owner. And the former tax accountant was particularly kind to the car the whole time. Only 26,991 km were racked up in just under 38 years. The chic coupé was never used as a lowly workhorse and therefore bears almost no traces of use. The owner also developed a strong passion for keeping records of his darling. Two folders full of receipts and documents trace the history of the car, beginning with the newspaper advertisement that prompted him to visit the car dealership. Payment slips for leasing rates and garage rental, each individual inspection report and even the smallest invoice, all of them carefully and chronologically filed as one would expect from an account. This pedantry is reflected in the car itself. Its condition is entirely pristine, each detail convincing, with everything in its original place and as good as new. Some cars with just a year under their belts would turn green with envy. The consignor is parting ways with his ZX for reasons of age, and could not be more delighted to find an enthusiast who appreciates the Japanese charm and knows how to keep the ZX just as carefully as he did all these years.
