Renault showcased the 4 CV, a small, modern car with self-supporting body, five doors and a rear engine, at the Paris Motor Show in 1946. The 4 CV rapidly emerged as the French response to Volkswagen, remaining in production until 1961. The first series vehicles were cream/beige, which gave the car its nickname ‘Cream Slice’. But the 4 CV was also a little speedster, winning races like Monte Carlo, Le Mans and Mille Miglia in its class!

This Renault 4 CV was registered as a new vehicle in Vienna, where it most likely led a sheltered life. An old Viennese Renault dealer then extensively refurbished the diminutive French car before placing it in his showroom window, where it remained for a longer period. Entralled by the sentimental desire to purchase a model of his very first car, the consignor only managed to buy the likeable little vehicle after protracted negotiations. Now 55, the 4 CV still catches the eye with the unusual solutions and sophisticated details that made it a coveted ride in its heyday. The Cream Slice remains an excellent looker with lots of French chic that regularly scores highly in popularity rankings. The Renault is submitted for auction all set for registration!
