Anton Lehmden - vendere e comprare opere

Anton Lehmden is an Austrian painter and graphic artist. Alongside artists such as Ernst Fuchs, Rudolf Hausner and Arik Brauer, he is one of the co-founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism.
Born in Slovakia in 1929, Lehmden studied at Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts under Albert Paris Gütersloh. His first exhibition took place in the Art Club in Vienna in 1948. This was followed by numerous exhibitions around the world over the subsequent decades.
He is one of the co-founders of the Vienna School of Fantastic Realism, whose works were first presented at the Upper Belvedere in 1959. The artist was responsible for designing the Volkstheater underground station and the church for St. George’s College in Istanbul, along with other projects. In his works, he prefers to focus on dramatic events such as war scenes and natural disasters, with additional themes including landscapes and nature studies.
Lehmden received numerous awards for his artistic work, including the Gold Medal of the City of Rome in 1957, the Austrian Cross of Honour, First Class, for Science and Art in Vienna in 1978, and the Lovis Corinth Prize in 1984.
In 1962 he joined the Academy of Applied Arts in Istanbul on a one-year professorship. He was in charge of the masterclass in painting at his alma mater, Vienna’s Academy of Fine Arts, between 1971 and 1977. Since 1966 he has lived and worked in Deutschkreutz Castle in Burgenland, where he organises cultural tours and summer events in collaboration with his daughter. In addition to this, the castle also houses a museum dedicated to the artist’s work.
