Josef Mikl - vendere e comprare opere

Born 8 August 1929 in Vienna, Josef Mikl was an Austrian painter and graphic artist who died in his home city on 29 March 2008.

Mikl attended Die Graphische in Vienna from 1946–1948, before attending graduate school under Josef Dobrowsky at the Academy of Fine Arts, where he remained until 1955.

He joined the International Art Club and the Vienna Art Club as a student. Other members included such luminaries of the art world as Maria Lassnig and Friedensreich Hundertwasser. Mikl joined Arnulf Rainer, Markus Prachensky and Wolfgang Hollegha in 1956 to establish the artists’ group Gallery next to St Stephen’s.

He held a professorship at the Academy of Fine Arts in Vienna, where he taught from 1969–1997. Mikl represented Austria at the 1968 Biennale in Venice and also exhibited at Documenta III and Documenta VI.
