A second version of the present composition is preserved at the Toulouse Museum (cf M. Faré, Le Grand Siècle de la Nature Morte en France, 1974, p. 214). Fred Meijer, whom we thank for his kind assistance, believes that the present painting may have involved the participation of the workshop.
