Pieter Andreas Rysbraeck
(Paris 1684–1748 London) Still life with a hare, a duck and a pigeon, oil on canvas, 84 x 123 cm, framed
We are grateful to Fred Meijer for confirming the authenticity. He suggests that the present work might be the result of a cooperation between Pieter Andreas and his son Gerard Rysbraeck (Antwerp 1696–1773). Rysbraeck grew up in Paris and moved to London with his brother, the sculptor Jan Michael Rysbraeck, in 1720. He soon received numerous commissions for still lifes with game, which he set in park landscapes often decorated with antique statues and ruins.
