1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible

1966 Chevrolet Chevelle Malibu SS Convertible - Autoveicoli d'epoca

A rare Canadian specimen!

The Chevrolet Chevelle is doubtless one of the most popular muscle cars in America. Introduced in the 1964 model year as a mid-sized vehicle, the Chevelle was manufactured in 10 different GM factories, including in Canada. In the model range of the 1960s, the Chevelle and its luxury version, the Malibu, occupied the mid-size category. In the 1966 model year, all Chevelles got a new body with a trapezoidal form and a bolder shape over the rear wheel housings. SS, the abbreviation for "Super Sport", previously an equipment option, was reserved for the "large" models on the American market after 1966. For this reason, a SS six-cylinder is a rare Canadian specimen.

This Chevelle came from the Canadian GM plant in Ontario and consequently has a km/h speedometer. The two-door convertible with six cylinders was ordered with a three-speed manual gearbox. The A51 Sports Option distinguishes it as a Malibu SS, which is also recognizable from the bucket seats. The radio also appears to be original. The convertible was recently overhauled extensively and appears well-kept all around. It is likely that more than just the paint and hood were restored. According to the consignor, the car has been an absolutely reliable comrade and brought many exciting kilometres. The 3.8-litre six cylinder purrs like a kitten and, together with the column gear shift, offers a very smooth driving experience. The snow-white hood top opens automatically; the "American way of life" begins in the garage. You can write your very own road movie with this typical US classic!
