1931 Steyr Type 30 Standard Convertible

1931 Steyr Type 30 Standard Convertible - Autoveicoli d'epoca

An Austrian piece of automotive history
Ex-count of Walderdorf

Dr. Ferdinand Porsche was entrusted with the overhaul of the Type XX. As was to be expected from this genius, he changed the model so thoroughly and so much for the better that it was essentially a new car. The press praised the Type 30, Steyrs first all-steel design, as a good, solid automobile.

On the basis of a number of documents, it is evident that this Steyr was registered to a professor in Vienna XIX, Dollingergasse, on July 2, 1958. In the 1970s, the vehicle was owned by a doctor in New Jersery, USA. He paid duties on the vehicle in Austria in September 5, 1973. In April 1974 he sold it to a gentleman from Frankfurt who took great care of the vehicle. While the Count of Walderdorf kept in touch with the previous owner for years, he was only able to acquire and register the Type 30 in 2005. He left the car with the charm of its well-kept age, but extensively repaired the mechanics and overhauled the original motor. He also redid the leather seats. The result: an automobile that appeared old, but was still exciting technically. Many classic car enthusiasts associate the Count with a Packard or even this Styr. And this simple convertible does indeed offer plenty of excitement, with its completely effortless handling and agile mechanics. In this way, it not only qualifies as a starter vehicle for the pre-war scene, but also a practical automobile for fun and leisure. A historic, quality car, "Made in Austria"
