When it came out in 1964, the Ford Mustang sparked a wave of enthusiasm in the US unheard of for a passenger car to date. On the evening of its introduction, April 17, 1964, 22,000 orders were received within one day. Technically, the Mustang was based on the Falcon and therefore affordable, while also being modern and sporty at the same time. It embodied the joie de vivre like no other of its time. It was available as a coupe, convertible and fastback with a hatchback. Carroll Shelby also took one of the latter and caused quite a stir on the racetracks.

This Mustang Fastback in poppy red from the first model year was introduced in Germany in 1990. Since it’s an early model it still has the dashboard with a ribbon speedometer and it is also equipped with an air conditioning system. Only two owners were registered until 2007 in the old German vehicle registration papers. Afterwards the Mustang moved to Vorarlberg, where it was typified. Finally, the Fastback was a well sheltered part of a collection in Vienna. Invoices provide proof that it has always has always received maintenance, including an overhaul of the chassis suspension in 2013. This Mustang captivates its audience by its original and well preserved appearance, which refreshingly differentiates it from many of its peers. It anyway enjoys a cult following!
