Provenance:
sale, Sotheby’s, Amsterdam, 30 November 2010, lot 90 (as Gaspar Peeter Verbruggen I);
sale, Hampel, Munich, 30 June 2011, lot 289 (as Follower of the van Kessel family)
Verbruggen painted the flowers and probably the fruit. The genre scene in the centre has been executed by an anonymous Flemish painter.
We are grateful to Fred Meijer of the RKD, The Hague for confirming the attribution of this painting to Gaspar Peeter Verbruggen I.
