Workshop of Lucas Cranach I
(Kronach 1472–1553 Weimar)
Lucretia,
oil on panel, 59 x 39 cm, framed
Provenance:
Private collection, Southern Germany
A technical examination of the present painting carried out by Manfred Schreiner revealed that the work dates from around 1550–60. An attribution of the painting to Cranach’s student Antonius Heusler (c. 1500–1562), who in his late years was active in Annaberg, has been suggested.
